Thanksgiving is a very wonderful tradition. But it is a tradition that is rooted not in the abundance of what we have but in the knowledge that no matter what we have or have not, God is very near to us in persons or events of our life. When the Bible says in every-thing give thanks to God, it means we should be thankful to him in the good times as well as the bad times. People or nation bound together by gratitude are always discovering and awakening abundant sources of strength. The more thankful a person is, the richer he or she is within. Thankful people store up in their grateful memory all the wonderful experiences of the past and celebrate it every moment of their life. Let us generate within ourselves the heart of thanksgiving, not only in receiving but also in giving. Giving in gratitude makes our thanksgiving meaningful. We remember the beautiful words of St. Mother Theresa: “God never tired of giving, nor can He exhaust His mercies. Let us not get tired of receiving and sharing.” Below is a simple Prayer before Meals that all of us could pray at our Thanksgiving Dinner.
Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day Meal Prayer
Bless this food we have before us, O God.
Let it provide the nourishment we need.
Bless our family and our friends gathered around this table.
Let us be nourished by our love and care for one another.
Bless those who have less than we have.
Let our eyes be open to their needs.
Bless us as we bless Your Holy Name on this day of Thanksgiving.
Let us praise and thank you always in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
