“Life that matters”. It is a popular slogan and chants what we hear on the streets and media these days from all around the world. People add colors to their lives to make these slogans more intent and concrete. The feast of Corpus Christi is a celebration of our spiritual lives that matters. Life in Corpus Christi- a life in the Eucharist makes our lives colorful and worthy. Living a life in Christ that matters. St. Augustine writes: “Corpus Christi is your Mystery, the Mystery of your life that has been placed and celebrated on the altar.”
Doing life or having life; that’s the issue Jesus is concerned about. That’s the focus of Corpus Christi. Jesus says: “Taste and See, the Lord is good.” In Holy Communion with Jesus, we just don’t do our life but have our life. The celebration of the Corpus Cristi invites us to the Banquet of the Lord, to taste our spiritual food, exploring the meaning of the Eucharist in our worship and in our daily living. On this great Feast we try not to explain how this mystery happens, but to celebrate with deep joy that God is truly present to each one of us. We eat and drink our way to life- a life in Christ that matters. So, leave nothing behind. Push nothing to the side. Clean your plate! Bon Appetit!!
