Updates from St Martin of Tours Parish, Mississauga

Publié : Apr-27-2021

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Late this afternoon, the provincial government announced further restrictions in an attempt to minimize the transmission of Covid-19, given the alarming increase in new cases over the past 10 days. The new measures have a direct impact on places of worship as part of an extended stay-at-home order, which will be in place until at least May 20, 2021.

Effective Monday, April 19, 2021 Parishes must restrict attendance inside the church to 10 people, including priests hearing confessions or a staff member/volunteer required to monitor capacity restrictions. Due to these measures, public Masses must be temporarily cancelled.

While the dispensation from the obligation to attend mass continues to be in effect, we have  the permission to celebrate Holy Communion Services for our parishioners.

  1.  Each service takes approximately 10 minutes and will be led by a priest or deacon for only 8 parishioners (plus presider and usher for a maximum of 10 people allowed in the church).
  2. Every 30 minutes, 24 communicants will be receiving Eucharist through a 10minute interval. This is to allow the next batch of 8 waiting outside to come in and receive communion.
  3. Please note that those in attendance must be willing to stand, appropriately distanced in the front of the altar and will be asked to leave immediately following the final blessing. Please be on time.
  4. There will be a list of the registered individuals and a volunteer on the outside to help facilitate the Communion Service.

Holy Communion Service: Saturday 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm

Sunday 9.00 am to 2.00 pm (Registration required through Eventbrite - Holy Communion Service >>click here) or visit our website www.stmartinoftourschurch.ca

Live streaming of Holy Mass will continue as usual, Monday to Friday at 8:30am, Saturday  at 9:00am, Vigil Mass-Saturday, at 5:00pm and Sunday 8.00 am. For those who are not able to tune in to live stream, the Saturday 5:00pm mass will be recorded (playback) and posted on the website to be viewed at any time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all our parishioners especially, all who are affected by this pandemic including all front line workers.

Please feel free to contact me or our parish staff for any of your spiritual needs by phone or by email (stmartins_mississauga@yahoo.ca). We are more than happy to be there for you.

Looking forward to the day when we can come together once again to celebrate our faith as one Happy Parish Family.

 Yours in Christ,

 Fr. Gijo
